NoVA-Area Legislative Reception Aug. 30; We Need Additional Credit Union Attendees!
NoVA credit unions: There’s still time to join us tomorrow (Aug. 30) for our Legislative Reception at Northwest Federal Credit Union (6 p.m.-8 p.m.)! Register here. At present, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-10th) and 20 current lawmakers and political candidates have RSVP'd. What we need is additional credit union support from across the region, so please join us!

League Compliance Roundtable Sept. 6; Register Now for Free Webinar
Join us Sept. 6 for the League’s free Quarterly Compliance Roundtable. JT Blau, Chief Advocacy Officer of the League, and attorney Jay Spruill (Woods Rogers Vandeventer Black PLC), who serves as lead attorney for the League's Compliance Hotline, will discuss the following: fraud scams targeting member accounts and protective measures a credit union can take; NCUA’s new member expulsion rule; NCUA’s new cyber incident reporting requirement; FinCEN’s update of their examination manual; and other recent hot topics from the League Compliance Hotline.
Credit Unions: Financial Education Grant Program Accepting Applications
Through the generosity of Vizo Financial Corporate Credit Union, Virginia's credit unions can apply for grants that will fund financial education projects or programs to empower members to reach financial goals and establish a better quality of life. Up to $50,000 annually will be allocated to the Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia. Grants will be awarded in April 2024. Small credit unions are encouraged to apply.
Tidewater Chapter Meets Sept. 14
CUNA's Richard Gose (Chief Political Officer) and the Virginia League's JT Blau (Chief Advocacy Officer) will present a program on key state and federal legislative issues at the Tidewater Chapter's Sept. 14 meeting.
Vote Opens on Transformation to America’s Credit Unions
Members of CUNA and NAFCU have received ballots to vote on the proposed merger of the two associations to form America’s Credit Unions. The vote will remain open for 60 days.
