CUs, League Meet with Lt. Gov. Earle-Sears
Credit union and League representatives met today with Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears at her Richmond office, as credit unions prepare for a busy 2024 General Assembly session.
Credit union leaders shared information with the lieutenant governor about financial education, first-time home buyer programs, the value of the credit union tax exemption, and the numerous ways credit unions serve their members.
We also discussed credit union legislative priorities and possible legislation that would impact credit unions should bills be introduced when the General Assembly session convenes in January.
The Lieutenant Governor has been a strong supporter of credit unions.
Joining League representatives Carrie Hunt, JT Blau and CeJae Vtipilson at the meeting were: Chris Williams (Henrico FCU, League Board Member); Lindsey Kelly (Langley Federal Credit Union); Pat McNichol (Navy Federal Credit Union); Amanda Habansky (Peoples Advantage Federal Credit Union); Cindy Lindsey (RVA Financial Federal Credit Union); and Janine Williams (UVA Community Credit Union, League Secretary).
