Bronco Federal Credit Union Announces the Appointment of Michael ‘Mike’ Kenzie as Chief Executive Officer

Bronco Federal Credit Union is delighted to announce the appointment of Michael ‘Mike’ Kenzie as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 22, 2024. Following a comprehensive internal and nationwide search and selection process, Mike has been chosen to lead Bronco Federal Credit Union into its next phase of growth. Mike will replace Brian Hedgepeth, CEO for 13 years, who announced in April 2024 his intention to retire later this year.

Mike brings over 25 years of experience in the financial industry and 16 specifically in the credit union movement with a proven track record of driving significant growth, enhancing member experience, and fostering innovation. Prior to joining Bronco Federal Credit Union, he served as Chief Information Officer at Patriot Federal Credit Union. There, he oversaw nearly all aspects of the credit union’s operations. He was instrumental in enhancing member engagement by implementing mobile banking and the OmniChannel initiative, growing the asset size of the credit union not only through organic growth, but leading Patriot Federal Credit Union through two mergers, and overseeing the construction of 5 new branches.

Before his financial sector career, Mike served with distinction in the elite 75th Ranger Regiment Special Operations Unit of the U.S. Army, serving three combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Information Systems. He is also a graduate of the prestigious Certified Chief Executive (CCE) program, which includes executive certifications from Wharton, Cornell, and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. Additionally, Mike has earned numerous other leadership and technology certifications, underscoring his commitment to continuous learning and excellence in his field.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mike is deeply committed to community engagement. He has led leadership training for the Chamber of Commerce and taught at the local community college, demonstrating his dedication to fostering leadership development. His deep-rooted small-town values fuel his passion for supporting community initiatives, ensuring that the credit union remains a cornerstone of local engagement and support.
