League's Carrie Hunt Notes Challenges for State Charters, Need to Modernize State Rules for CUs
In an article posted to CUToday.info, Virginia Credit Union League President/CEO Carrie Hunt notes her growing concern for the future of the dual chartering system in the Commonwealth.
Hunt notes the need for "discussions" around the future of the state charter in Virginia, as well as reminding credit unions of the existing advantages of the state charter. Your League supports additional modernization of state rules, as well as giving credit unions greater flexibility in an increasingly complex marketplace in which tech-savvy consumers are demanding more from their financial institutions.
"Your League remains committed to enhancing the state charter and advocating for the dual charter system as a means of contributing to a safe, sound and viable industry," said Hunt. "An effective, innovative and thriving state credit union system benefits the whole of the credit union community."
