Duties:

Argent Credit Union is seeking a Director of Lending. Under the direction of the Vice President of Loan Administration, the Director of Lending will plan, direct, and supervise workflows of loan origination, decisioning, processing, funding, and servicing of all consumer loans and real estate loans to achieve desired production, credit risk performance, and service quality standards. Responsible for the daily management of the Consumer Loan and Mortgage department staff including direct supervision of consumer loan officers, loan department support staff, indirect sales, and mortgage loan officers. Comply with all policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Achieve desired production, credit risk performance, and service quality standards by effectively planning, directing, and supervising workflows of all consumer loans and real estate loans.
• Responsible for the daily management of lending staff including direct supervision of consumer loan officers, loan department support staff, indirect sales, and mortgage loan officers.
• Ensure efficient and effective loan processing, underwriting, closing, and funding practices. When possible, incorporate technological solutions to increase efficiency.
• Monitors consumer loan and real estate workflows and adjusts resources to maintain expected service delivery standards.
• Provides input to Senior Management regarding setting of lending goals and coaches staff to achieve those goals.
• Observes the marketplace for consumer, economic, and competitor trends and recommends changes for improved organizational performance.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all phases of the consumer and mortgage loan programs and ensures procedures are in alignment with policies, laws, and regulations.
• Effectively manages risk and credit quality within lending policy guidelines. Underwrites loans within Board-approved limits and in accordance with established lending guidelines.
• Oversees all loan servicing research requests, reconstructs and corrects loans as needed.
• Directs, motivates, measures and coaches the activities of direct reports. Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations, providing recommendations for career development.
• Works to increase knowledge, technical skills and professional development through available internal and external sources.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate.

Requirements:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field or a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in consumer underwriting preferably within the credit union industry.
• Minimum of three years direct supervisory experience managing a centralized lending team.
• Extensive knowledge of first mortgage sales and servicing including government programs.
• Strong working knowledge of lending principles, underwriting standards, and risk management practices.
