- Tidewater Chapter Donates $10,605 to Local Children's Hospital
November 27, 2023The Tidewater Chapter has donated $10,605 to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, the Norfolk-based Children's Miracle Network Hospital. The Chapter held its 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on June 2 to raise funds for the hospital.

November 3, 2023The 1st Advantage Federal Credit Union Foundation is proud to announce the resounding success of its inaugural Pickleball Tournament, which took place on Saturday, October 21st at the Quarterpath Recreation Center in Williamsburg, Virginia. The event raised over $45,000 to benefit the 1st Advantage Foundation, supporting local military families in our community.
- VACU Celebrates New Branch with $25,000 Gift to Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond
October 31, 2023Congratulations to Virginia Credit Union, which today celebrated its fourth new branch location in the City of Richmond, with this latest branch sited in the city’s historic Church Hill neighborhood. The credit union anticipates opening its fifth new branch location in a matter of weeks, with all five having opened within a year’s time. As part of the grand opening celebration, the credit union noted its recent $350,000 in funding for RPS Saves, a new initiative to encourage Richmond City Public School students to save for the future. Parents or guardians can open an account for a student and the credit union will cover the $5 membership requirement and deposit $20 into the child’s savings account. The credit union also donated $25,000 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond.

October 30, 2023Chartway Credit Union has been named honoree of The Civic 50 Hampton Roads by VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads and Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. This award acknowledges Chartway as one of the most community-minded companies in Hampton Roads, determined by an independently administered and scored survey. The Civic 50 Hampton Roads initiative, modeled after Points of Light’s national program, provides a standard for superior corporate citizenship and showcases how companies can use their time, talent, skills and resources to drive social impact in their company and communities.
- People's Advantage Federal Credit Union: Financial Empowerment Center Open for Business in Richmond
October 30, 2023Peoples Advantage Federal Credit Union on Oct. 28 celebrated the grand opening for its Richmond Financial Empowerment Center at 3601 Dill Road, Richmond, Virginia. The event had over 200 attendees from the community. The Credit Union’s mission is to enable the underserved, unbanked and no-credit population to build and fulfill dreams by taking the People “Advantage.”
- DCCU Donates $20,000 to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank
October 30, 2023During the months of July and August, DCCU credit card holders received additional reward points or cash back for their grocery purchases. In turn, DCCU would make a donation to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (BRAFB) in relation to the dollars spent on grocery purchases. Thanks to the campaign and member support, DCCU donated $20,000 to the Food Bank.
- Langley Federal Credit Union Donates $3,000 to Food Bank of Central, Eastern North Carolina
October 27, 2023Langley Federal Credit Union has donated $3,000 to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina to help celebrate the opening of the credit union’s newest branch, in Raleigh, North Carolina. The branch at 6308 Falls of Neuse Road welcomed its first members on Sept. 11. As part of the opening week festivities, Langley pledged to donate $100 for every new member who joined the branch, up to $3,000.
- BayPort Co-Sponsors First-Ever 3D-Printed Home in Southeast Newport News
October 26, 2023The BayPort Foundation has partnered with Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg and Newport News Shipbuilding to co-sponsor a 3D-printed home in the southeast neighborhood of Newport News. The home is the first of its kind in Newport News and is anticipated to be completed in December.
- Juntos Avanzamos (Together We Advance) Designation Recognizes Chartway’s Commitment to Hispanic Consumers
October 16, 2023Chartway Credit Union is proud to announce it has received the distinguished Juntos Avanzamos designation from Inclusiv, an organization dedicated to closing the gaps and removing barriers to financial opportunities for people living in distressed and underserved communities. Credit unions dedicated to serving and empowering Hispanic and immigrant communities receive this designation. Out of more than 4,000 credit unions in the United States, only 134 have earned this designation, spanning 28 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.
